University of York’s – using Treviso propagation lamps

Plants have now finished, both species set seeds as expected and grew really well. See attached photo of the Treviso lights mounted in an upright Sanyo MLR Cabinet – 9 fixtures (3 per side), achieving 180umol/m/s – plants are Arabidopsis thaliana and Nicotiana benthamiana.
York University compared 2 identical cabinets, running the same environmental program (Day length:18 hours, temperature 20’c) and with matched light output of 180 umol/2/s over a period of 24 hours:
- Energy Consumption:
- Fluorescent light: 16.0kWh
- Treviso: 9.7kWh
That’s a 40% saving! which is great news for us.
